Smiley did a catering for me for Christmas and the food was wonderful. All the guest loved the food. His food is not like any other restaurant you go to it has a blend of spices that I have never tasted before. His food has only the best ingredients in it. I have ate oxtail before and usually people make it with the big bones. When smiley makes his oxtail he makes it so you have meat to eat as well. We even loved the mashed potatoes. If you are looking for a cook that not only cooks good but loves what he does and loves giving quality to his customers you need to hire Smiley's Catering for one of your events. :D :D

"Smiley is the real deal. I have known Smiley for a couple of years. He is an incredible friend and an even better chef. I have travelled to most parts of the world and have eaten many different types of food. Bar none Smiley has a flair in the way he cooks and people are drawn to his personality and his incredibly diverse food. I know soon I will need my own travelling chef to travel with me, Smiley will be the first chef offered the job. Smiley, keep up the great cooking and your other testimonials show that I am not the only fan of your cooking."

"I've been to a lot of schools before, but Bathurst is the only school that I know that has the best food service. Bathurst has the best cook in all of ontario, Smiley. And you can't say that Bathurst only serves fattening food, because Smiley has a special dish that only has about three grams of fat in it, because Smiley knows that we at Bathurst Heights deseve the best, and only the best. He wants us to grow up healthy, strong and smart. Smiley wants us to become someone famous, so when we get older, we can say. ""I went to bathurst and got my education that I needed to become what I am today"".
Sincerely,
Jonathan Breedon"

"One of the biggest challenges of an education operator is trying to get the kids into the cafeteria, once the initial thrill of the cafeteria has worn off. You can try contests and draws. You can give a shot to giveaways and bargains. But when you have a school that is so diverse that the population is split five ways, you have to start thinking outside the box. You have to start doing something in your cafeteria that brings the kids in to eat the food they are used to, the food they get at home. And it has to be a good price. Specially chefs are expensive, and hard to find. The trick is to find someone already in your employment that is replaceable at one unit, but indispensable at several units.
We found this person. His name is Smiley, and he is so well known through out the Toronto District School Board that a mention of his name and the principles are asking when he can come back to their school. We discovered that Smiley has a flare for several different types of cooking as well as a wonderful rapport with the students. He plays music, talks about basketball and talks to the kids about things going on in the community, while selling them their favorite food. We started by placing Smiley on a rotating schedule. Every Monday at one school every Tuesday at another and so on. Once we put Smiley into play, the kids soon followed the sound of his music right into the cafeteria. Sales on these days in the units jumped. After a while, the kids got used to Smiley being in on the specific day and would bring extra money to buy his food. At Downsview Secondary School, he cooked Jamaican, at Nelson Boylen it was Italian. At another school it was Chinese. If he was ever absent on one of these days, the sales and customer count dropped. Needless to say, he was never allowed to be absent.
Another up side to this innovative thinking was all the teachers and administrators we attracted into the cafe. The word started to spread about Smiley and everyone wanted to see what the attraction was. We started using him at catering events and large functions. He never failed to draw a crowd.
This kind of creative thinking is required when you work in the Toronto area. When you work in an area that has a high turnover of students and teachers alike, you need to offer some stability to the school environment. You need to be able to offer them great food at great prices. They have to want to come in and eat our food, and spend their money on our items. Smiley and other great team members like him have helped us achieve this goal."

"Dear Smiley
Thank you for your reliable friendly cafeteria service this summer. I really appreciated your ""music"" and atmosphere for the caf. Best of luck in future business, cafeteria or music.
Thanks again

"SO WHAT'S COOKIN
This is Paul Evans (Smiley). He is Chartwell's travelling cook! Smiley travels from School to School creating multicultural cuisines for students and staff. His specialities include: Jerk Chicken, Peas & Rice, Curry Chicken, Beef Stew, Spicey Noodles, just to name a few items.
Students enjoy getting authentic ethnic meals cooked ""just like home"". Smiley brings his own music and thus creates a great eating envirionment for everyone there.
Managers receive a monthly calendar of Smiley's schedule and they contact Smiley 3-4 days before his arrival to their school. This gives the manager's enough time to bring in the required stock and make P.A. Announcments.
With the music going, Smiley serving his great food, students and staff love the atmosphere and the cafeteria is always happening!"
